When I was a young lad of 11 years old, Brian Labone was one of my first Everton heroes. He was captain of an Everton team that became known as "The School of Science" because of the way they played their football.
He played in an era when the fan could still believe that they were part of the club; before so much money came in and took football away from the fan; before sponsorship and silly salaries and before Sky "invented" what is now considered to be football!
Hopefully Everton will honour 'Labby' with a statue alongside the one of Dixie Dean.
